Bittersweet reminiscence.

In 17 years (&11 months LOL) of my life, I've never been hospitalized before, never been on drips, nor have I ever sat on a wheelchair. However, I've got the chance to experience all these within a mere 12 hours.

It all happened on the 12th of May.

 on the lorry.

It was near 1p.m. &we had our last lunch at Dusun Eco, Pahang after a 3 days 2 nights leadership camp. We were chatting happily &we were planning on what to do once we get home. For me, all that I wanted was to get back to Cova, take a long, hot bath, &jump onto the bed right after. I have not had a good sleep throughout the camp.

It took them awhile before the lorries finally came to ferry us to the bus. The first lorry that arrived was full almost instantaneously, judging from the eagerness of the students to get to the bus after the long wait under the scorching sun. Needless to say, the same thing happened when the second lorry arrived. I spotted a couple of empty spaces on the lorry though, &so I hurried my friends to board along with me. They refused, reason being they want to get onto an open-air lorry so that they could enjoy the breeze.

ENJOY SHIT AH!

The driver must have been a conductor of a roller-coaster ride back in India BECAUSE THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING. He freaking sped downhill! It never occurred to us, or perhaps only me, that danger was awaiting. All I could think of was fun and excitement, like how you would usually feel when you're on a roller coaster. We were screaming our lungs out (literally) and a couple of us from my row fell forward. I swear I was still laughing and screaming.

The next thing I know?
People were calling out for my name &everyone around me was in a chaotic rush. The only person I remembered helping me up was Fiona, a senior of mine at college. Jega told me yesterday that they thought I was dead for a moment.

He pissed me off even more when he told me he sprinkled water onto my face. (Yeah, as though the swell wasn't hurting me enough) but then again, without them, I'd probably be lying there till now. I don't remember anything at all, not even the part when an uncle carried me to the road because I was too impaired to walk on my own. What I can recall though, was me insisting to remove my contact lens (smart move =P), Dani helping me to bandage my hand, &Adam promising me to treat me ice-cream. Oh, did I mention, I only managed to remove the lens from my left eye because the one on my right eye wasn't there anymore. Either it is right there, at the other side of my eyeball right now, or it had dropped out. *fingers-crossed for the latter*

Blablablabla all the bustle &commotion &finally I was transported to a hospital in Bentong. Didn't know who drove me there don't even know who was sitting at the back, all that I know was I had one of the best sleeps ever in that red car. Once we arrived, some nurse came and helped me onto the wheelchair. I screamed when she held my left arm (it was bleeding like $^%&* ) and all 10 of us were stranded in that stupid GH for a couple of hours without any treatment.

Yes, you heard me right. Am I condemning GH? Figure it out yourself.

Imagine this - we were all on wheelchairs, without any space to push ourselves around, facing each other's bloodystained faces, with uber bad air ventilation (totally reminded me of the foul, malodorous sweat &blood smell that filled the x-ray room) and the only form of entertainment that we've got was....... my face.

Oh yes, you should have seen my face when I was at the hospital. My mom cried the moment she saw me, but I bet great friends like you guys would have probably laughed your asses off.

Halloween was early!

Hours of waiting was proved to be futile because subsequently there was an electricity failure &everyone was pissed, especially Ugo. No doctors were in sight, but guess who was? A reporter! =.='' We were then transfered to Temerloh, another one friggin hour from where we were. I've never been to Pahang aside from Genting, Cameron, Bukit Tinggi and all the other highlands but I never knew that my first visit would be to the hospitals.

My mom was there with me in the ambulans with Ivan sleeping soundly on the stretcher. His condition was by far worse than mine and all that I could do was to give him a few pats and give him a few words of encouragement.

Out of 13 people (including the driver), 11 was hurt (including the driver :D )
The driver, a foreigner WITHOUT license, hurt his arm.
Farah broke her leg and hand :(
Ivan fractured 2 of his bones and some internal injuries which I'm not certain of.
Chia Chee fractured her cheek bone and broke (sorry if I'm wrong) her hand.
Ugo broke his nose.
Me? A big fat fugly purple swell on the left portion of my face, wounded elbow, scratches all over my body (damn, those scars T.T) and I have fractured the wall of the bones around my left eye.

Those in the first picture above were the ones most afflicted. In conclusion, sit close to Inch next time, you'll be sure to be alright. LOL! Inch escaped without any injury, and CJ, Jaga &him were the heroes that day. They pulled all of us out &god knows what they did to wake us up from our unconsciousness (Jaga.. sprinkle water on my face again and you'll see, ish!)

Pui yee fractured her ribs, Wei Xin's face is swollen, Nadia broke her teeth, Jaga torn his ligaments around his ankle &Muaz fractured his hand.
On the brighter side though, I am glad no one died AND I'm really proud to be a Segian. Everyone was so helpful! People you love, people you hate, they all will offer their help once you're in deep shit and this is exactly how friends should be! Thanks Segians for helping my friends and I, you guys are our Guardian Angels! :)
xoxo.
Ivan and I only found out about our fractures in private hospitals during our second checkup. Can't believe GH do such slapdash jobs!
thanks EVERYONE who wished me. I think I'll recover faster than anyone else because of all your wishes! Love you guys so much <3
Inch, Cj, Jaga &Dani, thanks so much for the visit. It felt so good to be able to chat with you guys after the accident!
apparently CJ and Inch are still in love with Iron Man 2 judging from their gestures. =.=
covered my face because.... my face look exactly like that icon lol.
